Brescia: guided tour through the historical ages

This guided tour will lead you to the discovery of the marvellous, but still relatively unknown city of Brescia, through its rich historical, artistic and architectural heritage. This special itinerary will unveil the city along a thematic route that embraces stories and architecture from different historical ages.

Throughout history, in fact, Brescia has seen the birth of different squares for each era and the city has developed around them. In this guided tour we will discover together the Roman side of the city, which is shown in its evocative power in Piazza Foro with the remains of the Capitoline temple and the Theatre. Piazza Duomo with its historic cathedrals (open and visitable free of charge, except in case of special functions or events) and the Palazzo del Broletto will show us the medieval Brescia.

If Piazza Loggia with its imposing Palace and its splendid astronomical clock are the most striking examples of the Venetian era, here emerge the Risorgimento features of Piazzetta Tito Speri, dedicated to the hero of the "Dieci Giornate". Piazza Vittoria, built in the thirties of the 20th century, will tell us the most recent history of the city, as many of its stories have animated Corso Zanardelli - the "living room" and the main shopping street of Brescia. The tour in the historical epochs will end right here, with a tasting of local products: Franciacorta Brut and fried polenta.
